Combustion of Calcium in Oxygen

This video demonstrates the combustion of calcium in oxygen. The water in the bottom of the gas jar contains Universal Indicator and the change in colour to blue can be observed as the Calcium oxide produced reacts with water to form Calcium Hydroxide. The Hydroxide ions then turning the Universal Indicator blue.
